The Laboratory of Catalysis and Spectrochemistry (LCS) is a renowned research center specialized in heterogeneous catalysis and porous materials. They excel in the design and preparation of microporous materials, such as zeolites, and in the study of these materials using so-called operando spectroscopy, which allows the observation of materials under conditions that are as close as possible to their real-world counterparts. Thanks to its expertise, LCS is uniquely positioned in the study and optimization of catalytic and adsorption processes with applications in areas such as energy conversion and environmental protection.

A key part of research at LCS are FT-IR spectrometers, which play a crucial role in the study of catalytic processes. LCS recently founded Visio Technics, which focuses on selling its own in-situ and operando catalytic cells specifically designed for use with Nicolet FT-IR spectrometers (iS20, iS50, Apex). These cells, designed, developed and manufactured directly at LCS, allow detailed monitoring of reactions in real time and are complemented by software for their automatic control, based on the Labview and Omnic platforms and Macros Basic.

LCS also offers partnerships to interested parties from other laboratories and participates with its partners in various congresses and conferences, such as Spectrocat (https://www.lcs.ensicaen.fr/spectrocat-2024/). In collaboration with other laboratories, LCS actively promotes solutions based on the iS50 or iS20 systems or APEX with Omnic, not only in France but also abroad. You can also look forward to a number of interesting webinars.

LCS’s main customers are public and private research laboratories not only in Europe but also around the world. Applications of their products include, for example, monitoring catalysis for transportation, analysis of individual steps in oil processing, environmental protection (including polymer recycling and green energy), and biochemical applications.
