The first thing is to discover the origin of microplastics and map their path in different ecosystems. However, this adventure begins with the detection and most accurate identification of these substances in various types of samples: drinking water, service water, food industry products and also in the air. According to a new study published in the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/science.sciencemag.org\/content\/368\/6496\/1257.abstract\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Science<\/a>, air is also contaminated with <a href=\"https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/en\/analysis-of-microplastics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">microplastics<\/a> of various types. Microscopic and nanoscopic particles travel by wind and from the sky they return to our environment probably in raindrops. An article entitled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/science.sciencemag.org\/content\/368\/6496\/1257.abstract\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Plastic rain in protected areas of the United States<\/a>&#8221; reports the finding of plastics in 98 percent of 339 samples collected from allegedly pollution-free areas in the United States, including 11 national parks (Rocky Mountain, Grand Canyon, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>The co-author of the study is Dr. Suja Sukumaran (Senior Application Scientist at Spectroscopy Business Unit TFS) using a <a href=\"https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/en\/product\/nicolet-in10-microscope-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thermo Scientific Nicolet iN10 FT-IR<\/a> microscope as the primary analytical tool for <a href=\"https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/app\/uploads\/2019\/03\/General-MicroPlastics-Guide.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plastics identification<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More for example <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/06\/11\/climate\/airborne-plastic-pollution.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/grand-canyon-joshua-tree-microplastics-atmosphere-scientists-1510251\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsweek<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/plastic-rain-is-the-new-acid-rain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WIRED<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c20678f dce_masking-none elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"c20678f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/app\/uploads\/2021\/01\/f1c5216d-1024x683.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-1324\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/app\/uploads\/2021\/01\/f1c5216d-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/app\/uploads\/2021\/01\/f1c5216d-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/app\/uploads\/2021\/01\/f1c5216d-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/app\/uploads\/2021\/01\/f1c5216d-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/nicoletcz.cz\/app\/uploads\/2021\/01\/f1c5216d.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The presence of plastics in the oceans and in the freshwater environment is a well-known and intensively researched phenomenon in recent years.
